End of the Year Outreach Updates

Hi, Poiema family!

I hope this email finds you well and still savoring the deliciousness of your favorite Thanksgiving turkey!

It’s been a busy and productive few months with Community Awareness Outreach. I’m excited to take a moment to catch you up on all the excitement that’s happened with our outreach efforts since July.

Thanks to your dedication, more than 320 locations received missing kids’ posters over the summer and fall months. We remain incredibly grateful for the unwavering commitment of our volunteers. In October, we launched a new outreach campus in Frisco and are thrilled to welcome St. Philip’s Episcopal Church as an outreach partner!

God has been at work through our outreach teams, and we have much to celebrate:

  • In November, out of the 11 kids featured on the poster, SEVEN were recovered!
  • Melissa Zimmerman, the leader of our Southlake campus, shared, “Today we had three new people train. We were able to cover all of our routes. Everything went smoothly, and businesses recognize us now. Comfort Inn has a plastic frame just for our flier, and they post it on the front desk. We are so lucky to have a supportive community ❤️”
  • Our teams saw a lot of possible human trafficking activity on October 12, which happened to be the day of the Texas/OU game. (See our Human Trafficking Tip below to learn about the connection between large sporting events and trafficking).
  • A man in Fort Worth recognized J. Smith from the poster as he had bought her pizza the week prior; Smith was located shortly after he reported seeing her!
  • A gas station employee in Dallas told our volunteers that she had seen M. Izaguirre. This young girl was found a day later but sadly has gone missing again. Please join us in praying for her safety!
  • Recently some of our volunteers joined 4TheOne on a search mission looking for A. Williams, a young lady who frequents the posters. The team got together and prayed before they got started, and within ten minutes, they spotted her. What a beautiful testament to the power of prayer!

Thank you for helping us make these recoveries possible! Your support makes all the difference.

Human Trafficking Tip of the Month:
Events that draw big audiences and large numbers of out-of-towners, such as large sporting events, can create environments that are ripe for human traffickers, as they attract many tourists, money, and job opportunities. Click here to learn more.

If you couldn’t make it out last month, there are plenty of upcoming opportunities to attend Outreach! Click here to view the calendar on VolunteerHub and register.

Thank you for partnering with Poiema as we educate our communities, engage in the fight, and empower survivors.
